American Girl Place

ESPN Zone
The place for interactive games and viewing sports on large digital screens.The second floor is a huge interactive, virtual reality games space, whilst the third floor offers a huge TV screening a multitude of sports.43 E. Ohio Street (312 644 3776).

Loop tour train
Free tour on the El with a guide from the Chicago Architecture Foundation. 77 E. Randolph Street .

Ice Skating
When in Winter in Chicago, ice skating is a must do. There are nine outdoor rinks mostly operating from November to February.

Museum of Science and Industry
Don't be fooled by the serious title, there are plenty of fun things to do here. Exhibitions include Toymaker 3000, Fairy Castle, Heart Balcony, Coal Mine, Chick Hatchery, Idea Factory and many more. All designed to stimulate, interact and learn while having fun. 57th Street (773 684 1414)

Navy Pier
Originally a passenger and freight terminal, then a Navy training station and brought to life in 1995 as a tourism centre. The pier has something for all, shops, restaurants, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, a Children's Museum, an IMAX theatre and large Ferris wheel. And plenty for the kids to do. 600 E.
